The 5th through 7th come from a mature middle period with interleaving tragic and optimistic elements. If you hate one or both, perhaps suggest another late romantic composer of similar style (Zemlinsky, Strauss, Schmidt, Hausseger, Elgar, Langgaard, Atterberg come to mind). The final dance from the latter's ballet The Three-Cornered Hat is of unmistakably Spanish origin, as is the music of each of these composers. The peace and proportion of St Florian were a goal to be striven for, not an omnipresent environment.

Unfortunately the original version seems unrecoverable and we know only the thoroughly revised version of 1878. It is an interesting insight into how history gets written, that you could well assume Wagner to be the taller of the two composers, on the strength of this image. Tinter�s recording for Naxos has received very high praise and I can recommend it if you are seeking an even cheaper copy. The term is mostly used to indicate songs from the Medieval troubadour compositions, and also some polyphonic works.
